Othello
Britain in Print
Act 3 Scene 3 - lines 228 - 259
4. In lines 248- 259, how does Iago ensure the safety of his own position?

a) Think about the way that Iago’s actions betray his concern.  Look at his response to his dismissal by Othello (lines 242-244).
b) Read Iago's speech (lines 248 - 259) and select all the instructions that he gives to Othello

Choice 1My lord, I would I might entreat your honour
Choice 2To scan this thing no further. Leave it to time;
Choice 3Although 'tis fit that Cassio have his place,
Choice 4For sure he fills it up with great ability,
Choice 4Yet if you please to hold him off awhile,
Choice 4You shall by that perceive him, and his means:
Choice 4Note, if your lady strain his entertainment
Choice 4With any strong or vehement importunity,
Choice 4Much will be seen in that. In the meantime
Choice 4Let me be thought too busy in my fears -
Choice 4As worthy cause I have to fear I am -
Choice 4And hold her free, I do beseech your honour.
